Our Story

Pantry Magic was founded by a classically French trained working chef – in friendly partnership with a handful of like-minded foodies and entrepreneurs – to fulfill the need in Asia for an excellent neighborhood cookshop stocking the fine necessities that culinary enthusiasts need to create great dishes. From that little 600 ft² first store in Hong Kong’s historic Pedder Building, we have grown in a few short years to a chain of 13 stores with operations in seven countries.

We are the only original, first, and foremost chain of upmarket specialty retail kitchenware stores in Asia-Pacific. Intrepidly, we opened stores – established by far-seeing owner franchisees – in diverse and developing markets of Asia, way back in the day. Today the opportunity may seem obvious, but years ago, we were certainly country before country was cool.

Firmly rooted in the hard-working and practical kitchens of restaurants and resourceful home cooks, we continue to bring you a complete selection of over 2500 items hand-selected by our globe-trotting buying team of people who cook, love food, stock our stores, and are dedicated to bringing this special combination to you in every one of our locations.

Our Stores

In Hong Kong, Singapore, Taipei, Jakarta, Bangkok, and Bali - feature a demonstration kitchen anchored by a stove/oven range custom built in France, and various cooking classes, book signings and product demonstrations ongoing.

Our Products

Our complete product line includes everything a serious cook would need, from pots and pans, to stockpots, mixing bowls, spatulas and turners, knives and steels, mortar-and-pestles, silicone and traditional metal bakeware, roasters, whisks, spoons, sieves, basters, skimmers, and more. In addition, in many stores we stock a complete selection of English language cookbooks and food magazines from the USA, Australia, NZ, the UK, and in the local language of each country.

Our own label products are field-tested by working chefs and meet every test for practicality and durability. Everything carries a lifetime guarantee for quality and performance, and have been manufactured according to our stringent, professional requirements. Since we are factory direct, prices are on average 30-40% lower than imported department store competition. We also stock a growing selection of kitchen tools and products from some of the finest brands in the world, and are exclusive retailers for the Garde Manger brand of French traditional kitchenware in our markets.
